Tenses
Tenses give an understanding of the time concept in language. With the help of tense, one can learn English easily. If one learns tenses well then the rest topics of grammar become easy. In English, there are three main tenses PRESENT, PAST and FUTURE. These three main tenses are further divided into four subtypes. So in English Grammar, we have a total of twelve tenses to study. Each tense is used for the specific situation and each has its own verb forms and time words. Here we will understand how a particular tense is used in the specific situation and which time word it takes with examples.
Simple Present Tense
Simple Present Tense is used for everyday action, daily routine, general things, for universal truth, for scientific truths, geographical facts and for things that do not change with time and space.
- Time words-
always, every day, daily, usually, sometimes, mostly, often, sometimes, many times, etc...
- Verb form-
V-1(root verb)
V-s, es
- Sentence Pattern-
- Subject(Other than 3rd person singular) + V-1(root verb) + Object + Extra words
- Subject (3rd person singular) + V-s/es + Object+ Extra words
